temple tale #284 a light rain had started when i reached the temple. it was confused. something between a drizzle and a rain. but i wasn't confused for a change. i left my umbrella in the car. a little rain never hurt anyone... rainy plastic blue chappals had already arrived. she's involved with the temple duties now, i believe. strangely, when i stepped inside she was sweeping! ah...! everyone multitasks nowadays!! i didn't look around. didn't make eye contact with anyone. gannu was done with his milk bath. and water bath. and looked ready for me :) i stood right in front of him. bang in the middle. gannu-greedy! that's what i am...! gannu smiled. "hogging all the gannu-space are we?" me: "yeah. sometimes i need all of you. sometimes i don't feel like sharing. i get a minute or two with you. surely that's acceptable...?" gannu kept smiling. i refused to budge. me: "you know, loving someone is not a choice. not loving someone is." gannu: "and so you've taught me a lesson today! thank you!!" the realisation was rattling. and scary. i did my chakkar. came back for my haldi kum kum. only to be greeted by the pandit who insisted on giving me a full spoon of milk charnamrit! how do i explain to him i'm not good at dealing with "too much"...? today, while leaving i looked back a few times; only to see gannu smiling, a bit more than usual... #templetales July 30, 2013.
